Charles Enlow

Charles Enlow has been richly praised throughout the United States and in Europe for his sensitive and virtuosic recital performances. As a collaborative pianist, Charles Enlow has worked with a variety of renowned vocalists including William Lewis, Darlene Wiley, Pamela South, and Elizabeth Mannion. From 1997–1998 he served as principal pianist and vocal coach with the Austrian American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, Austria. In the Pacific Northwest, he has appeared frequently as a solo recitalist and with chamber music ensembles. Charles Enlow’s solo and collaborative performance repertoire spans three centuries, from Bach, Scarlatti, and Mozart to Rachmaninov, Mompou, and contemporary works by American composers. Dr. Enlow has a special passion for piano music of Spain and France, with a particular interest in the solo piano music of Gabriel Fauré.

A native of Idaho, Dr. Enlow pursued his musical studies at the Juilliard School and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Dr. Enlow attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. He has studied and coached with many master teachers, including Martin Canin, Mack McCray, Claude Frank, James Dick, Yo-Yo Ma, and Rosina Lhevinne. Scholarships and prizes include the Mary D. Bold Fellowship for Studies in Piano Performance, Mary Frances Bowles Couper endowed Presidential Scholarship in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, awards from the Federated Music Clubs, and the Battelle Research Center’s Young Artists Series. In addition, he was twice Regional Winner and National Finalist in Music Teachers National Association Young Artists Competitions.

Dr. Enlow has served on the faculties of the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University, and is currently a member of the music faculty at Shoreline Community College, where he teaches piano, collaborative piano and chamber music, vocal ensemble performance, and directs and produces Shoreline Community College’s Opera Workshop and musical theater productions.
