Patrick Sheng

Patrick Sheng is a jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator currently serving as the Director of Instrumental Jazz Studies at Long Beach City College. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Music from Washington State University.

 

As a performer, Patrick has played all over the world as a professional musician, and has shared the stage with jazz artists such as Joey DeFrancesco, Wycliffe Gordon, Tom Scott, Jeff Coffin, Andy Narell, Wayne Wallace, Wayner Bergeron, and many others. He has also performed with the Spokane Symphony Pops, The Washington-Idaho Symphony, The Harry James Orchestra, and has been featured on recordings and articles in JazzizMagazine. Patrick’s most recent recording project, Let Go, is a collection of original music and jazz standards, co-led by bassist Joe Butts of Lafayette, Louisiana.

As an educator, he has taught jazz and saxophone courses at McNeese State University, Clark College, and Washington State University. He has served as the president of the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education, and appears regularly as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for honor bands and jazz festivals.
