Joseph Ready

Since moving back to Oregon in 2018, Joe has been an active performer and educator in the greater Portland area.  He currently teaches low brass at Pacific University and maintains a private teaching studio.  Joe is the Principal Tubist with the Portland Opera and has performed with the Oregon Bach Festival, Eugene Symphony, Vancouver Symphony (WA), Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Coast Music Festival, Oregon Ballet Theater and Oregon Symphony.

An advocate for the marching arts, Joe has worked with some of Oregon’s top high school marching bands including Sunset, West Salem and Century High School.  In 2023, he joined the Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps Brass Staff and is the Low Brass Lead Teacher.

Joe earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Oregon, his Master of Music degree in Tuba Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies from Roosevelt University.  While in Chicago, he was an Associate Member with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.  Joe has performed with orchestras in the Midwest including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Toledo Symphony, Elgin Symphony, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Joe’s primary teachers include Michael Grose, David Saltzman and Charles Schuchat.  He has had additional studies with David Fedderly, Dennis Nulty, John DiCesare, JáTtik Clark and Gene Pokorny.
